Dee Williams claimed by New York Giants

Though both (former) kick returners for the Seattle Seahawks had issues maintaining possession, they’ve now been picked up by two NFL teams.

Friday’s NFL transaction wire confirmed that the New York Drew Lock Giants have claimed Dee Williams.

They’re just a few special teams plays away, after all.

If what was more surprising this week was that Laviska Shenault was released before Williams, it’s just as big a surprise that Williams would be claimed off waivers by an absolute non-contender.

Unless….the contending is for a top draft pick.

While searching for New York’s reasoning for the waiver claim, I stumbled across their Big Blue View article referencing our own Field Gulls article which called the events of last Sunday an “unmitigated disaster.”

Williams’ first season in the NFL has been quite the experience to say the least. After four defensive snaps and a 12.5% fumble per return rate, he heads off to see what damage he and the Giants can now inflict.
