Deion Sanders: “Please don’t mess this up”: Deion Sanders urges the New York Jets to give Louis Riddick a genuine chance as their next general manager | NFL News – Times of India

The New York Jets are looking for a head coach and general manager as the team looks to recover from a dismal 2024 season, removing Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh. The team has interviewed several candidates for both jobs, including ESPN analyst Louis Riddick. Colorado Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders pleaded with the Jets not to let their chance get away with Riddick after his interview had been announced.

Deion Sanders has urged the Jets to not let go of the chance to hire Louis Riddick as their new general manager

Deion Sanders has urged the New York Jets to not let go of the opportunity of hiring Louis Riddick for the post of general manager for the MetLife Stadium-based franchise. This was after the Colorado Buffaloes’ coach asked the NFL executive to bag the position for him. The Woody Johnson franchise is now on the hunt for a new general manager, head coach, and quarterback following its November announcement about Joe Douglas’ firing.

The Jets are already looking to make moves by interviewing Riddick for the post, who played six years in the sport before transitioning to executive roles and the 57-year-old Coach Prime is clearly a big fan. “Jets Please don’t mess this up and I pray this was a real interview and not that other thang y’all do,” Sanders wrote on Twitter. “This man deserves a REAL CHANCE! He is knowledge & Class personified!”
Sanders and Riddick played for the Atlanta Falcons in 1992. Though Riddick did not have a successful playing career, he was a scout for the Washington and Philadelphia Eagles, and eventually, a Director of Pro Personnel.
Riddick comes from a former analyst background as an Eagles scout and has entered ESPN after work in sports media. He was qualified for general manager work earlier and was interviewed for the general manager position when Pittsburgh Steelers recently vacated in 2022, but chose to hire general manager Omar Khan instead.
