Denver Broncos running back leaves field on a stretcher after taking huge hit
Denver Broncos star Tyler Badie left the field on a stretcher in worrying scenes after taking a huge hit.
The running back was brought down by New York Jets linebacker Quincy Williams in a huge collision and hit his head on the turf.
He managed to walk off the field on his own and received medical attention while on one knee.
But minutes later, the 24-year-old was seen lying on the ground before being placed on a backboard.
The Broncos revealed that Badie has a back injury and is questionable to return.
Late in the first quarter, Bo Nix went to the back on a third down play but he was hit for a four-yard loss by Williams and fumbled the ball.
Michael Carter II recovered to put the Jets in great field position.
Badie was promoted from the practice squad earlier this week.
Javonte Williams and Jaleel McLaughlin will carry the burden for the Broncos if he cannot return with Blake Watson and Audric Estime missing the game.
Injury analyst Jeff Mueller feared that Badie suffered a concussion or neck injury.
“Prayers up for Tyler Badie,” he posted on X.
“Could be latent concussion response, or possibly neck injury when he hit the turf. Response was well after he was on the sideline for a while.”
Concussions have been in the news again this season after Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was ruled out indefinitely.
Fans have called on the passer to consider retirement after a number of head injuries during his career.
But ESPN reports that Tagovailoa is determined to play football again in 2024.
“I’m not assessing the injury through the lens of like, ‘Alright, so what does this mean for him playing?'” Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said.
“I’m not trying to even look at, okay, well how serious is this relative to his past ones?
“I know the facts are that it’s important that he gets healthy day by day.
“The best thing I can do is not try to assess what this even means from a football standpoint.”
