Did New York Jets Wide Receiver Garrett Wilson Deny Trade Rumours With His Bio? | NFL News – Times of India
The Garrett Wilson trade rumours may be swirling on the Internet but the rookie himself has hinted at his loyalty to his current team, the New York Jets. It’s no secret that the Jets are experiencing the longest playoff drought and has gone 14 straight seasons without a postseason appearance. So while analysts may think Wilson is thinking of switching teams, the wide receiver seems to be pretty dedicated.
The New York Jets WR Garrett Wilson Doesn’t Seem To Be Thinking About Being Traded
On his latest ‘Flight Deck’ podcast episode, sports writer Rich Cimini who mostly covers the Jets, shared that he has spoken to people who are a part of Wilson’s inner circle and speculation is strong that he would want a trade.
“I’ve talked to people in Garrett Wilson’s circle…they think he will ask for a trade after the season,” Cimini recently said. Cimini added that such talk “is speculation,” but signs of a future split is very possible. However, Wilson may not be thinking of quitting Gang Green so soon; looking at his X bio will let his fans know he is still loyal to the Jets.
The top of Wilson’s profile page plainly says “NY Jet TTWFO.” For those unfamiliar, the acronym stands for “Til The Wheels Falls Off.”
Wilson who is a 2022 first-round draft pick had addressed the Jets’ performance in the past. Last January, he said that “what happened this season can’t happen again” because he had just endured “the worst year” of his life.
He has even gone viral for his comments on the Jets’ ‘losing gene’. “When you’re up in the fourth quarter all of a sudden it starts to feel like we have a losing problem, like a gene or some…,” Wilson said. “We have a chance to win the game, we’re supposed to win the game, odds are in our favor and we find a way to lose.”
During New York’s win at the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, Wilson seemed frustrated over not being targeted on a certain play. “We’ve struggled in the red zone this season,” Wilson said on Wednesday. “I feel like sometimes we overcomplicate the game of football that we play.”
Wilson is clearly on track for a career-best season in 2024. Out of 14 games, he has 84 catches, 933 yards and six touchdowns. However, he’s signed with the Jets through 2026. While the Jets could retain Wilson’s rights via the fifth-year option attached he can negotiate an extension this coming offseason. It’s important to note that the Jets will soon have a new general manager and new head coach who did not draft Wilson so if he wants out, it could be worked out.
