“Different than I would have handled”: Tom Brady made some rather sarcastic remarks about former Giants quarterback Daniel Jones | NFL News – Times of India

Tom Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl winner, was critical of Daniel Jones’s decision to leave the New York Giants, saying that the well-being of every player should be prioritized. The decision to demote Daniel Jones to third in line, thereby eliminating the risk of an injury and requiring a $23 million compensation, was made in the wake of the controversial decision by the NFL.
Jones was reportedly complaining to management that he was third behind DeVito and Lock on the Giants’ depth chart and wanted out. Brady recalled a similar experience in college and made sure that he always put the team first, before himself.

During the Fox telecast of the New York Giants vs. Dallas Cowboys game, Tom Brady was seen making some rather sarcastic remarks about former Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. Jones was benched for Tommy DeVito and demoted to third-string quarterback. He played safety before requesting release and signing with the Minnesota Vikings. Brady disagreed with Jones’ request, making him the No. 6 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and giving him a four-year, $160 million contract extension during the 2023 offseason.
“To think that you would ask for a release from a team that committed a lot to you is maybe different than I would have handled that,” Brady said. Brady expressed his desire to maintain the respect and trust of his teammates, regardless of the situation he was in. “I faced them (challenges) in college. Some things didn’t go the way I wanted. The people that mattered most to me were the guys in the locker room,” Brady said. “I showed up every day, I don’t care if they asked me to be scout team safety, be scout team quarterback, I was going to do whatever I could to help the team win.”
Jones, New York’s franchise quarterback for half a decade and the heir apparent to two-time Super Bowl-winning QB Eli Manning, was humiliated by being relegated to playing safety at practice, and many similar players would have requested their release. Jones’ release was justified despite criticism from Brady, as he is valued more by Minnesota than New York and is not considered a safety. He’s part of a winning Viking culture and might get some snaps if quarterback Sam Darnold struggles or gets hurt.

Brady, now a broadcaster and minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, criticized Jones’ comments as more of an out-of-touch front-office executive than a leader of numerous locker rooms. Brady is a seven-time Super Bowl champion and is statistically the greatest quarterback of all time. However, his comments about Jones as a broadcaster were not elite.
