Taste of Iceland 2024, organized by Inspired by Iceland, is set to enchant New York City from Thursday, September 5, to Saturday, September 7. This cultural festival will immerse visitors in Icelandic traditions, offering a wide array of events that showcase the best of Icelandic culture, including culinary experiences, music, literature, art, design, nature, and wellness.

The festival aims to bring the unique spirit of Iceland to North America, collaborating with local businesses and official partners. Events will be hosted across various New York City venues, including AP Space, Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC), Pianos, Platform by the James Beard Foundation (Platform by JBF), Scandinavia House, and The Ivory Peacock.

Key Festival Highlights:

  • Wheel of Prizes by Icelandair (September 5-7): Participants at multiple events will have the chance to win exciting prizes, including a trip for two to Iceland. Icelandair will also offer special sales on roundtrip flights from New York to Iceland, starting at $429.
  • Designing with Nature (September 5): A panel discussion hosted by Blue Lagoon Iceland and Iceland Design and Architecture at Scandinavia House will explore how design and architecture can adapt to natural disasters and changing environmental conditions.
  • Icelandic Gastronomy (September 5): Chefs Haflidi Halldorsson and Snaedis Xyza Mae Ocampo will lead a demonstration and dining event at Platform by JBF, highlighting Iceland’s rich culinary heritage.
  • Iceland Airwaves Off-Venue Concert (September 5): The City of Reykjavík, in collaboration with Iceland Airwaves, will host a free concert featuring Icelandic indie band superserious and DJ Hermigervill at Pianos.
  • Icelandic Cocktail Class with Reyka Vodka (September 6): Learn to craft Iceland-inspired cocktails at The Ivory Peacock with mixologist Jeff Naples.
  • Dark Music Days Preview (September 6): Experience a sneak peek of Reykjavik’s contemporary music festival, Dark Music Days, with live performances at PAC NYC.
  • An Icelandic Feast (September 6): A pop-up dinner at Platform by JBF will feature Icelandic ingredients and flavors, curated by Chefs Snaedis Xyza Mae Ocampo and Olof Olofsdottir.
  • Elemental Sound Bath (September 7): Enjoy a meditative sound bath session led by Jósa Goodlife, followed by an Icelandic Provisions Skyr Bar at AP Space.
  • Icelandic Crime Fiction Talk (September 7): Join renowned Icelandic authors Ragnar Jónasson and Yrsa Sigurðardóttir at Scandinavia House for a discussion on crime fiction and their latest works.
  • Northern Lights in Manhattan (September 7): Astronomy educator Sævar Helgi Bragason will guide guests through Iceland’s northern lights and other celestial wonders at AP Space.
  • Style from the Skies: Icelandair x FLÉTTA (September 7): Explore sustainable design at AP Space with an exhibit showcasing upcycled Icelandair uniforms transformed into unique bags by design studio FLÉTTA.
  • Cocktails & Comedy with Ari Eldjárn (September 7): End the festival with a night of laughter and Icelandic cocktails at AP Space, featuring comedian Ari Eldjárn and mixologist Jeff Naples.

Taste of Iceland is an annual celebration of Iceland’s vibrant culture, organized by Inspired by Iceland. The festival is supported by Icelandair, Visit Reykjavík, Blue Lagoon Iceland, and other Icelandic brands. Following the New York event, the final Taste of Iceland 2024 event will take place in Seattle, WA, from October 3-5.
