Donald Trump: New York Post endorses Donald Trump | World News – Times of India
The New York Post has officially endorsed Donald Trump in the upcoming 2024 presidential election, calling him the candidate best suited to lead the United States. The Post in its endorsement said that this is “one of the most consequential in the history of this great nation,” claiming that the choice between Trump and his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris, would shape the nation’s future for decades to come.
The editorial urged voters to reflect on their quality of life under Trump compared to the current administration. It noted that, despite Trump’s polarizing personality and controversial rhetoric, his first-term achievements included significant economic progress, particularly before the Covid-19 pandemic. The Post pointed to record-low unemployment, rising wages, a secure border, and peace overseas as hallmarks of Trump’s leadership.
In sharp contrast, the paper criticised Harris and the Biden administration for what it described as “disastrous” results over the past four years. The endorsement cited inflation, illegal immigration, and rising crime as key failures, while also accusing Harris of embracing far-left policies that would continue to damage the country’s economy and social fabric.
“If she wins, Harris will not only co-opt Bidenism but accelerate the progressive hurricane ripping through the fabric of American society,” the Post said in its endorsement.
“Trump is the right choice,” the Post declared, saying that his policies would lead to prosperity and security.
A repeat endorsement from 2020
This is not the first time the New York Post has thrown its weight behind Trump. In the 2020 election, the tabloid endorsed him for re-election, praising his pre-pandemic economic record. The editorial then highlighted Trump’s success in job creation, particularly for minority communities, and warned that his defeat would lead to increased censorship and a weakening of American values.
The Post’s endorsement in 2020 also focused on economic recovery, stating that Trump’s leadership was key to reviving the nation’s economy following the pandemic shutdowns. In its view, Trump was the candidate who could “make America great again, again,” echoing his famous slogan.
Trump leading in key polls
As the 2024 election draws closer, Trump’s standing in the polls has improved. A recent survey by *The Wall Street Journal* shows Trump with a slight lead over Harris, 47% to 45%. Similarly, a CNBC poll indicates Trump is ahead by two points, with 48% support compared to Harris’ 46%. In battleground states, Trump holds a narrow lead, further solidifying his position as a strong contender.
As millions of Americans have already cast their votes, the election remains closely contested. Trump’s favorability ratings have improved since August, while Harris has seen her ratings decline, making the race even more competitive. With both candidates offering starkly different visions for the country, the New York Post’s endorsement adds another layer to the unfolding political drama.
