Ella Emhoff shines at New York Fashion Week amidst political spotlight – Times of India

As ‘Momala’ Kamala Harris geared up for her first presidential debate, her stepdaughter Ella Emhoff was busy making her mark during this year’s New York Fashion Week, as she balanced her public role and artistic career with aplomb. Emhoff was spotted at a variety of high-profile runway shows and events, gracing front rows and even walking for Coach.
An alumnus of Parsons School of Design in New York City, she majored in fine arts with a focus in apparel and textiles.Known for her eccentric and unique style, she dons many a hat from a model, artist and a designer, Emhoff first got noticed when she flaunted a jewel-dripped coat by Miu Miu at the presidential inauguration in January 2021. The super-talented lady designs jackets, hats, coats, and knitted shorts on one hand, and also sells ceramics, paintings, and drawings from her website.
Ella Emhoff isn’t new to the fashion scene and has already made her mark working for domestic and international fashion brands, but this is her first fashion week cycle as the stepdaughter of a candidate at the top of a major party’s ticket.Emhoff was seen attending a variety of runway shows and events at the New York Fashion Week, which included for J.Crew and Refinery29 and shows for Proenza Schouler, Susan Alexandra, Collina Strada and Tory Burch, reports NYT.

A day before Harris-Trump debate, Ella walked the red carpet in Coach’s runway show. However, a statement from Coach said the endorsement was not political and that she “represents our design aesthetic.”
Before that, at the Sandy Liang show, Ella appeared at the event in a chic cerulean skirt set, paired with her signature understated style. She was seated in the front row, arriving in a black S.U.V. and accompanied by two Secret Service agents in matching navy suits.

Emhoff also attended a party hosted by Thom Browne at the Commerce Inn restaurant in the West Village. Mr. Browne styled Emhoff for many occasions in the past few years including Democratic convention and told NYT that he sees her the same way now as he did before Ms. Harris became the Democrats’ presidential nominee.
“I never do things for marketing purposes,” the designer added. “I work with people I see as interesting.”
