Exhibitor Preview: Telos Alliance at NAB Show New York – Radio World
Marty Sacks talks virtualization and a new partnership with Super Hi-Fi
Planning for the 2024 NAB Show New York is ramping up, and Radio World is asking exhibitors about their plans and expectations. Marty Sacks is the executive vice president of sales, marketing and strategy at Telos Alliance.
Radio World: What news will your company feature at the convention — which of your new products or services for radio will you highlight?
Marty Sacks: We have a number of new things to share with our friends at NAB Show NY.
Our new Telos VX Duo broadcast VoIP system is of great interest to medium-sized and small broadcasters who are ready to upgrade to VoIP quality for on-air phones. The system starts at two channels and can be upgraded to eight channels. It delivers really big sound at a price point perfect for smaller applications.
We’ve also just introduced Axia StudioCore and StudioEdge, a new generation of compact, silent AoIP mixing engines and I/O translation devices designed for in-studio use. These are also designed to meet the needs of small- to medium-sized broadcasters looking to enter the world of AoIP or upgrade older networked facilities.
TV and large radio broadcasters have embraced the Telos Infinity VIP virtual intercom platform because of its ability to instantly connect producers with remote talent and staff via internet services. Now we’ve introduced Infinity Virtual Commentator Panel, which adds full-featured commentary capabilities to Infinity VIP systems. Remote contributors can now deliver broadcast-quality sports commentary or event coverage using any device with an HTML5 web browser, or our Infinity VIP apps for iOS and Android.
Finally, we’ve just announced our partnership with a very cool company called Super Hi-Fi. They have created AI content management technology that we believe will have an amazing, positive impact on how radio is created in the future. Super Hi-Fi loves radio just like we do, and we’re excited to work with them to support our mutual customers.
RW: You’ve recently had a string of new hires in July — how is the team meshing?
Sacks: Our new team members are enthusiastic and have hit the ground running! We’re very excited about their contribution to a number of interesting projects we’re working on. Our goal is to innovate faster to better serve our customers, and I’m happy to say that our new team members are helping us do exactly that.
RW: Your Omnia Forza FM won a Radio World Best of Show award earlier this year, what feedback have you received from customers about the product?
Sacks: We are really happy with the feedback we’ve received from the marketplace about Forza FM. The entire Omnia team, including Frank Foti, had big expectations for market acceptance and I’m pleased to say that those expectations have been exceeded! But we’re not standing still, and our development team is planning even more cool features that we think will make broadcasters even more thrilled with what Forza FM can do for them.
RW: As we look ahead to the latter half of the year, what are your goals? What trends will you be keeping an eye on as we look to 2025?
Sacks: We have released a lot of new products this year, but we have even more in the pipeline. So our immediate goal is to quickly deliver these to the broadcast community.
Things we’ll be keeping an eye on: This year a record numbers of broadcasters have been looking toward virtualized solutions. We anticipate even more savvy engineers coming to understand the advantages of virtualization in 2025, and our goal is to continue developing and delivering software that helps them realize their vision.
That said, we know there are many broadcasters who desire new and better hardware-based products, and we remain committed to those clients. As a manufacturer, we’re always looking to innovate, regardless of the infrastructure the client chooses.
And given our recent partnership with Super Hi-Fi, we’ll also be watching how the industry responds to the new breed of AI-assisted broadcast products, and will be talking with broadcasters to understand their vision for the future of their organizations.
RW: What else will you be watching for/looking forward to at the convention?
Sacks: We love going to New York, and we always look forward to seeing our friends and making new ones when we’re there. Events like these are vital to helping us keep our fingers on the pulse of the industry.
