Filip Chytil skates ahead of Game 5 in positive Rangers sign
The Rangers got some much-needed good news Monday morning.
After missing Game 4, Filip Chytil participated in the morning skate ahead of Game 5 against the Hurricanes.
Blake Wheeler was also a full-contact participant for the first time, having worn a red no-contact jersey prior.
Neither participated in line rushes — Jonny Brodzinski continued to skate on the fourth line, while Alex Wennberg centered Will Cuylle and Kaapo Kakko — but Chytil in particular returning to the ice is a positive long-term sign.
The Czech was not made available to media in the dressing room pregame.
Chytil, who played for the first time since November in Game 3, missed the next match with what the team termed “illness.”

Given the Czech’s injury history and that he is believed to have missed time this year due to recovery from a suspected concussion, that was a red flag.
