Former LSU Football stars honored by New York Giants for their incredible careers
The New York Giants celebrated an incredible milestone this past weekend honoring the greatest 100 players in franchise history as the team kicked off it’s 100th season. The ceremony was the lone highlight of the day for the New York Giants as they got demolished by the Vikings. To no ones surprise, there were several LSU Tigers in the Giants Top-100.
Y.A. Tittle was the highest ranked LSU Tiger on the list being ranked as the franchises 12th best player of All-Time. Tittle only played for the Giants for four seasons at the tail end of his career but, his impact was massive. Tittle led the Giants to three straight NFL Championship appearances but, never able to win the Title. In his three seasons in New York Tittle was a two-time First-Team All-Pro, a second-team All-Pro, the NFL MVP in 1963, and led the NFL in completion percentage and touchdowns in 1963.
Leonard Marshall was ranked 26th on the list as a key piece of Two Giants Super Bowl runs. As a second round pick out of LSU, Marshall played for ten seasons in New York recording 714 tackles, 83.5 sacks, 9 forced fumbles, and a pair of interceptions. In the 1990 Playoffs, Marshall was one of the Giants best players knocking Joe Montana out of the NFC title game while recording a pair of sacks and forced fumbles before recording the Giants only sack in the Super Bowl win over the Bills.
Odell Beckham Jr was ranked at 37th which is incredible given how storied the franchise is and how short Beckham’s tenure was in New York. From the moment he took the field for the Giants Beckham was a superstar recording 390 catches for 5,476 yards and 44 touchdowns during his tenure in New York. Since the Giants have parted ways things have gone downhill leaving all Giants fans with the thought of what could’ve been if the team held onto Beckham.
Corey Webster was named to the list of the top 100 New York Giants of all time coming in at 87th on the list. Webster was an integral part of two Super Bowl victories for the New York Giants with a massive interception in the 2007 NFC Championship game and a career high six interceptions on the year in 2011 when New York once again took down the Patriots. In December of 2023 Webster signed a one day contract to retire with the New York Giants.
