Former New York Giants WR signs with Philadelphia Eagles | Sporting News

Former New York Giants wide receiver John Ross signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, the team announced Thursday.

It was reported earlier in the offseason that Ross was exploring a comeback to the NFL. Ross attended the Eagles’ rookie minicamp on a tryout basis. The deal is for one year but financial terms were not immediately disclosed.

After breaking the 40-yard dash record posting a time of 4.22 seconds during the NFL Scouting Combine, the Bengals selected Ross at No. 9 overall. Injuries derailed his career, and the Bengals declined his fifth-year option.

Ross signed with the Giants in free agency during the 2021 offseason. He spent one season with the Giants, recording 11 receptions for 224 yards and one touchdown.

He signed a reserve/future contract with the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2023 offseason but announced his retirement during the summer just before training camp.

In 37 career games (21 starts), Ross recorded 62 receptions for 957 yards and 11 touchdowns.
