Former Oregon Ducks’ star placed on injured reserve by the New York Giants

Kayvon Thibodeaux was just beginning to find his form on the football field and now he has been sidelined.

The New York Giants placed the linebacker on injured reserve on Saturday after he suffered a wrist injury during the team’s 29-20 Week 5 win over the Seattle Seahawks. He will miss at least four games.

Thibodeaux had surgery on the wrist, an injury the team diagnosed as fractured scaphoid bone, during the week and the recovery time is four-to-six weeks, resulting in the IR designation.

Thibodeaux, coming off a season in which he posted a career-high 11.5 sacks, had posted two sacks in the first five games. However, he posted a half-sack against the Seahawks in Week 5, a sack in Week 4 and a half-sack in Week 3. He also has seven quarterback hits this season.

Thibodeaux has been a big part of the Giants defense, which leads the league with 22 sacks and is ranked 10th overall in the NFL.
