Gameday Roster Moves: Eagles activate TE Dallas Goedert, elevate LB Dallas Gant and DE Charles Harris for Sunday’s game vs. Giants

The New York Giants may have to deal with a double dose of Dallas when they travel to Philadelphia for the regular-season finale at Lincoln Financial Field.

Here’s a look at the gameday roster moves that the Eagles announced on Saturday afternoon:

Activated TE Dallas Goedert from Injured Reserve

After a week of fully participating in practice, tight end Dallas Goedert has been activated from Injured Reserve.

Head Coach Nick Sirianni has said several times over the last couple of seasons that the passing game runs through three players – A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and, yes, Dallas Goedert.

“He’s had a good week,” Sirianni said on Friday. “Good to get him back out there. He’s a heck of a football player. We need him to accomplish the goals that we want to accomplish, and he’s had a really good week.”

Goedert is embarking on his sixth playoff run in seven seasons in Philadelphia. Since taking over as the team’s primary tight end in 2021, Goedert ranks sixth among all NFL tight ends in receiving yards (2,565) and third in yards per catch (12.3). In the 2022 run to the Super Bowl, Goedert had 16 catches to lead the Eagles with 141 yards and a touchdown in the postseason.

Even with Brown, Smith, and Saquon Barkley at running back, Goedert has the capacity to be dominant, as he evidenced with a career performance in New Orleans when he had 10 catches for 170 yards, the most receiving yards by an Eagles tight end since Pete Retzlaff in 1965.

What remains to be seen is whether he’ll shake off the rust in the regular-season finale with the Eagles planning to rest most of the starters.
