Giants claim ex-Eagles cornerback Mario Goodrich off waivers

Mario Goodrich, a cornerback waived Tuesday by the Eagles, remained in the NFC East when the Giants claimed him Wednesday.

Goodrich, 24, went undrafted out of Clemson, where he was a teammate of Giants defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence in 2018.

Goodrich spent the 2022 season on the practice squad and in 2023 got into four games for the Eagles, with one start.

The Giants this week released a cornerback, Aaron Robinson, who could not make it back onto the field after tearing his ACL in Week 4 of the 2022 season.

Goodrich was let go by the Eagles to make room for offensive lineman Nick Gates, who spent four seasons with the Giants, starting 29 games.

The Eagles have endured a few injuries to their offensive line in training camp and added Gates to bolster their roster at that position.
