Giants injury news: Right tackle Evan Neal activated from the PUP list
New York Giants head Coach Brian Daboll confirmed to reporters Sunday morning that right tackle Evan Neal is being activated from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.
The Giants placed Neal on the PUP list at the start of camp after he suffered a setback in his recovery from ankle surgery. Daboll has maintained that the team still considers Neal to be a right tackle, which could force the Giants to reshuffle their starting line once again.
Jermaine Eluemunor moved from left guard to right tackle after Neal was placed on the PUP list, though he too was sidelined by bruised ribs. The team has also brought in veteran guard Greg Van Roten to provide depth at guard and center.
While it seems likely that Neal will resume his work at right tackle, we don’t know just how much work he’ll get on his first practice of training camp.
Daboll also confirmed that center John Michael Schmitz (shoulder) is limited but returning to practice following his injury earlier in camp.
We could see multiple alignments while Neal and Schmitz are worked back into the starting line-up, and it could be a couple practices before the starting offensive line personnel settles.
