Giants’ Lawrence Taylor in trouble with the law again, arrested in Florida | Sporting News

New York Giants legendary linebacker Lawrence Taylor was arrested in Florida for an alleged sex-offender violation.

According to TMZ, Taylor turned himself into Broward County jail on an outstanding felony warrant Wednesday afternoon on one count of failure to report name or residence change as a sex offender.

This is the second time Taylor has been arrested for an identical alleged offense — the first of which came in 2021.

Taylor was reportedly released from jail around 3:00 a.m. Thursday morning.

Taylor’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, maintained the former superstar’s innocence, calling it a “significant misunderstanding.”

“My client, Lawrence Taylor, will be pleading ‘Not Guilty’ to the recent charges,” Eiglarsh said via TMZ. “As with the previous incident involving the same allegations, Mr. Taylor did not knowingly commit any criminal offense. This situation is a significant misunderstanding. We are confident that, once the prosecutors review the exculpatory evidence demonstrating Mr. Taylor’s innocence, he will once again achieve a favorable outcome.”

In 2011, Taylor pleaded guilty to the misdemeanors of sexual misconduct and patronizing a prostitute after accusations that he had sex with a 16-year-old girl. At the time, Taylor said the girl told him she was 19 years old. Taylor was also registered as a low-risk, level-one sex offender.
