NY Giants: Tae Banks, corners putting ‘lonely world’ spot to the test | The Record

In his quest to improve rapidly, Cor’Dale Flott has spent time the last few weeks watching video of his own play. The way the Giants’ third-year corner sees it, if he can identify how opposing receivers are attacking him, there is a path to getting better and becoming a player on which this defense can rely on.

“You try to be honest and see how they are beating you, what they’re doing to beat you,” Flott said. “Because if you can figure that out and fix those things, you’ll stop the next receiver from doing the same thing.”

Do Giants have a path to victory over Seahawks without Malik Nabers? | The Athletic

There are an unusual number of parallels between the Giants and Seahawks, considering they’re in different divisions and reside 3,000 miles apart. This will be the third-straight season the teams have met. The Seahawks have won the previous two meetings — 24-3 in Week 4 at MetLife Stadium last season and 27-13 in Week 8 in Seattle in 2022. The Giants won 17-12 at Seattle in 2020 in a game played with no crowd due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Beyond the annual matchups, there’s a lot of crossover between the players and coaches from the teams.

Grading Every First-Round Rookie at NFL’s Quarter Mark | The 33rd Team

New York Giants: Malik Nabers, WR Grade: A+ Marvin Harrison Jr. has been awesome, but Malik Nabers has been even better. Nabers is the Giants’ offense, leading the NFL by nine receptions and ranking second in yards. His blend of explosiveness and consistency, plus giving Daniel Jones a huge catch radius, has allowed New York to at least be competitive in three of its four games. There’s no question Nabers is already the next star playmaker at receiver.

2. Malik Nabers. Nabers has more than made his mark, validating the rationale behind an unpopular opinion last spring. You see, back in the pre-draft process, analysts who rated Nabers above fellow receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. were typically viewed as hot-take artists. A month into the 2024 campaign, Nabers leads the league in targets (52) and catches (35), fully fueling the Giants’ offense as a dynamic DOG.

Is Giants’ rookie running back ready to boost offense if Nabers, Singletary don’t play? | NJ.com

Tyrone Tracy has watched the film of his first four NFL games — and he hardly recognized what he saw. He didn’t like it either — the timid running style, the hesitance to blast through holes. This wasn’t him. And he knew it.

Tracy — the Giants’ fifth-round rookie running back — vowed to change, to get back to his old self. Sunday’s game in Seattle could be a huge test for him. Will he run with his usual ferocity? Can he penetrate a strong front? He’ll likely have plenty of chances, for the first time as a pro.

Scary situation for Eli (and the Giants)

Dabs’ Digest: Week 5 conversation with Coach Brian Daboll | Giants.com

This year, all five of the starting linemen have played all 268 offensive snaps. Probably not coincidentally, you’ve allowed nine sacks compared to 22 at this point last season.

“There’s been a big improvement in that area,” said Daboll. “But protection encompasses everybody. The quarterback’s playing on time. I think our receivers are doing a better job getting open. I think our line’s doing a good job. When you have those elements that work together, the communication process has been good in terms of the protections. The timing’s better. There’s guys that are open a little bit more, and the line’s doing a better job. Combine all those things, you’d like to see it keep trending in that direction. But it’s been a lot different, I’ll tell you that.”

Through four games this year, Jason Pinnock, has already registered 21 tackles, three tackles for loss and three sacks. In coverage, he’s allowed an opposing passer rating of just 81.2. It remains to be seen if the Giants will fare well enough to generate any national attention for Pinnock. However, the Pittsburgh product, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract, is well on his way to earning a hefty payday in 2025.

Chiefs wide receiver trade possibilities: Who is the best option for Kansas City? | The Athletic

New York Giants Offer: Darius Slayton for a 2025 Day 3 draft pick. Slayton is a classic rental option, as he is in the final year of his contract and doesn’t have a hefty salary. If he gets traded, the acquiring team will owe him only $1.6 million.

Seahawks All-22 Review: Offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb shines in his primetime debut | Field Gulls

Even with a clear unbalance of 58 passes against 19 carries in the ground game, I don’t believe this was a flaw in Ryan Grubb’s game plan. The OC exploited what was working for Seattle against Detroit. He managed to attack the Lions’ defense, which mostly uses man coverage, using different strategies.

Seahawks plan to lean on Kenneth Walker III more | ESPN.com

The Seahawks didn’t really have that luxury Monday night, when their defensive struggles and an early 14-point deficit forced them into drop-back mode for much of their 42-29 loss at Ford Field. That meant only 12 carries for Walker, but he turned them into three touchdowns and 80 yards for his first three-score game since Seattle drafted him in the second round in 2022. He added four catches for 36 yards.

Seahawks Announce Week 5 Captains vs. The Giants | Seahawks.com

Throwing for a career-high 395 yards against the Lions, Geno Smith will head into this matchup a captain. This is Smith’s third time being named a captain for this season. Leonard Williams and Julian Love who both played for the Giants before playing for Seattle are also captains this week. Williams and Love played at the Giants together from 2019-22.

NFL Week 5 picks, schedule, odds, injuries, fantasy tips | ESPN

The Seahawks are trying to bounce back from their worst defensive performance of the season. The 42 points they allowed in their loss to Detroit on Monday night was more than double what they had allowed in any of their first three games, though it came with roughly half their defense sidelined with injuries. They’re hoping to get Leonard Williams (ribs), Uchenna Nwosu (knee), Boye Mafe (knee), Julian Love (thigh) and Jerome Baker (hamstring) back this week.
