Giants Now: CBS Sports Preseason All-Rookie Team
CBS Sports was hardly the only media outlet impressed with Nabers this summer. The Athletic’s Nick Baumgardner named the No. 6 overall pick among his preseason rookie winners.
“Nabers had some electric flashes in August,” wrote Baumgardner. “… The acrobatic, back-shoulder grab he made against the Texans is something Giants fans should get used to seeing. Nabers is a keeper.”
Nabers put together a very successful career at LSU, which led to the Giants selecting him sixth overall.
The young wideout finished the 2023 campaign with 1,569 receiving yards, which marked his second consecutive year with more than 1,000 yards. He also recorded 89 receptions and lead the FBS in receiving yards while ranking No. 2 in receiving touchdowns at the conclusion of the regular season.
The young receiver also registered the most 10+ yard plays, 20+ yard plays and 30+ yard plays in the nation last year while finishing his collegiate career as LSU’s all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards. Nabers was named Unanimous All-American and first-team All-SEC for his standout 2023 campaign.
Earlier this week, ESPN published their list of the top 100 players of the 2024 season, which featured three Giants. The rookie receiver did not make the list, but he was featured in the section about rookies that could find their way into the top 100 in 2025, alongside Harrison and Chicago’s Caleb Williams.
“Nabers is expected to be the Giants’ WR1 right away, so he’s in store for a productive rookie season,” ESPN’s Jordan Reid wrote. “He has unique explosiveness and the ability to change the course of games instantly, and he is a threat at all three levels of the field. It wouldn’t come as a surprise if he finishes inside of the top 10 in both catches and receiving yards in 2024.”
