The Giants’ pass rush had one of its most dominant performances of the last decade against the Browns this past Sunday.

Nine players combined to register the team’s eight sacks, which tied for the most sacks across the NFL in Week 3. The Giants’ 36 total quarterback pressures were also the most in the league last week.

For rookie Elijah Chatman, who got into the action in Cleveland, his sack of Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson was the first of his NFL career.

The undrafted lineman’s performance led to him landing on The 33rd Team’s list of the top 10 non-quarterback rookie performances from Sunday.

“He works hard,” defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence told the media Tuesday. “I was happy for him to get his first one… He’s special, and I just want to see him keep growing.”

Chatman enjoyed a lot of success as a pass rusher against the Browns. The 23-year-old was on the field for 18 pass rush snaps and recorded four total pressures, according to Pro Football Focus. This resulted in the young lineman generating a 27.8 percent pass rush win rate, the highest among the team’s defensive linemen.

Chatman also recovered a fumble after outside linebacker Brian Burns stripped the ball out of Watson’s hands.

“He’s a leader, too,” Lawrence added. “He came in here, he speaks up when he sees something, he holds guys accountable, and he works hard. I respect that.”
