Kayvon Thibodeaux makes CBS Sports’ All-Under-25 Team
CBS Sports recently put together their All-Under-25 Team on the defensive side of the ball.
Featured on the second team at edge rusher was Giants outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux.
Thibodeaux recored four sacks and six tackles for loss across 14 games as a rookie, which helped him finish fourth in the Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.
The outside linebacker then took a big step in 2023, increasing those numbers to 11.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss in addition to three forced fumbles and four passes defensed while playing all 17 games.
The 23-year-old has performed well this summer, getting into the backfield to pressure the quarterback on a near daily basis.
“He’s had a good camp,” coach Brian Daboll told the media Tuesday morning. “I think that his pass rush has evolved. I think he’s practicing at a good tempo, a good speed. You notice him out there. He’s been pretty consistent with everything that we’ve asked him to do. I’ve been pleased with Kayvon.”
Thibodeaux will now line up on the opposite end of the line as Brian Burns, who registered eight sacks, 16 tackles for loss, 18 quarterback hits, one forced fumble and two passes defensed across 16 games last season.
The trio of Thibodeaux, Burns and Dexter Lawrence, all of whom will enter the season below the age of 27, combined for 148 quarterback pressures last season, according to Pro Football Focus.
Detroit Lions edge Aidan Hutchinson and Houston Texans edge Will Anderson Jr. were selected to CBS Sports’ first team, while Buffalo Bills edge Greg Rousseau joined Thibodeaux on the second team.
