Media offers high praise for Wan’Dale Robinson, Malik Nabers
Members of the media have offered some high praise for several of the Giants’ wide receivers in recent weeks.
CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin chose one “under-the-radar player who could be a star” for every team across the league, and for the Giants, he went with Wan’Dale Robinson.
“After quietly logging an impressive 76.1% catch rate over his first two NFL seasons, the third-year slot target is primed for even more opportunities, thanks to the addition of the explosive Malik Nabers out wide,” wrote Benjamin.
After missing the first two outings of the season as he finished his recovery from the torn ACL suffered during his rookie year, Robinson played the final 15 games.
The young wideout led the team with 60 receptions, while his 525 receiving yards ranked third. Of those 60 receptions, 29 resulted in a first down, which was tied with Darius Slayton for the most through the air on the team.
Pro Football Focus recently named Robinson one of the league’s top triple-threat receivers, while Cowboys star wideout CeeDee Lamb called the 23-year-old a “sleeper” earlier in the offseason.
“You know who’s really a sleeper?” Lamb asked. “Wan’Dale Robinson from New York. He’s so fast. He’s so nice. His routes are crazy.”
Speaking of Nabers, the rookie wide receiver also earned recognition from some of ESPN’s NFL reporters.
“Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers will lead all rookies in yards per reception this season,” wrote ESPN’s Liz Loza when asked for a bold prediction regarding the 2024 rookies. “A highly productive and consistent downfield target at LSU, Nabers figures to emerge as the Giants’ most leaned-on pass-catcher.”
Nabers finished the 2023 campaign at LSU with 1,569 receiving yards, which marked his second consecutive year with more than 1,000 yards. He also recorded 89 receptions and lead the FBS in receiving yards while ranking No. 2 in receiving touchdowns at the conclusion of the regular season.
The 20-year-old registered the most 10+ yard plays, 20+ yard plays and 30+ yard plays last year. He finished his collegiate career as LSU’s all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards, and was named Unanimous All-American and first-team All-SEC for his standout 2023 campaign. Nabers also brought in 72 passes for 1,017 yards and three touchdowns as a sophomore in 2022.
“Nabers might have the highest ceiling of any offensive player in the draft,” ESPN senior NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler said when asked for his favorite pick from the draft. “Several teams in the top 15 coveted him. Give quarterback Daniel Jones a chance with a guy of this caliber, and see what happens.”
The young wideout also shined at the LSU pro day earlier this offseason, as he ran an unofficial 4.35 40-yard dash and registered a 42-inch vertical and a 10’9″ broad jump.
Nabers, who doesn’t turn 21 until July 28, was one of the youngest players taken in the first round of this year’s draft.
