Giants rookie Malik Nabers gives update on his concussion scare

New York Giants rookie Malik Nabers has eased fears he suffered a concussion on Thursday night against the Dallas Cowboys.

The rookie receiver was enjoying, perhaps, his best game yet until an unfortunate fall in the game’s final moments left him in the concussion protocol.

Fortunately, he posted in the early hours of Friday: ‘All good. Thanks for all the prayers!!!’.

The former LSU star receiver was attempting to make a diving catch along the sideline, but appeared to land head first before laying nearly motionless on the turf for a few moments. He was promptly taken to the injury tent, where he was examined before returning to the locker room.

Meanwhile, back on the field, Giants (1-3) quarterback Daniel Jones was being intercepted on a final desperate Hail Mary, allowing the Cowboys (2-2) to escape with a 20-15 victory.

Nabers finished with a game-high 123 catches for 115 yards before the injury.

‘He played a heck of a game again,’ Jones said after the loss. ‘He’s showing up for us big time so we’ll keep trusting him with it.’

Nabers had been productive in his previous three starts, making 23 catches for 271 yards and even a pair of touchdowns. But against the Cowboys, the sixth-overall pick of April’s NFL Draft exceeded the loftiest expectations.

Targeted 15 times, Nabers came away with a dozen catches, several of which were considerably difficult.

On one deep route, Nabers gave Cowboys cornerback Andrew Booth a quick stutter step, sending the Dallas defender stumbling backwards, before hauling in a 39-yard reception.

But all of that optimism that’s been building for Nabers over the last few weeks suddenly dissipated with Thursday’s injury.

When Giants linebacker Brian Burns caught Nabers in the locker room after, he asked the rising rookie how he was feeling.

‘Leek, you good?’ Burns asked, as quoted by ESPN’s Jordan Raanan.

Nabers could only shake his head ‘no.’
