Giants roster news: WR Malik Nabers signs his rookie contract
The New York Giants first round pick, WR Malik Nabers out of LSU, has officially signed his rookie contract.
The team announced that Nabers signed his contract prior to taking the practice field at the start of the teams’ rookie mini-camp on Friday. Nabers’ contract is a fully guaranteed 4-year, $29.062 million deal that also includes an $18.062 million signing bonus. As a first round pick, Nabers’ contract also includes the all-important fifth year option, the price of which is determined by a number of factors including performance over the previous years of their contract.
The Giants also announced that Nabers will be wearing number 9 in rookie mini-camp, though that very well could change once training camp and the season roll around.
Nabers wore number 8 in college, which is of course, taken by Daniel Jones. Kicker Graham Gano currently wears number 9, and doesn’t seem inclined to let a rookie have his number.
Nabers is the Giants’ second draftee to sign his rookie deal, with fifth round pick Tyrone Tracy inking his contract on Thursday evening.
