Giants Rule Out Key Offensive Weapon For SNF vs Bengals

New York Giants running back Devin Singletary will miss the upcoming Week 6 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. Singletary’s availability for the game was downgraded to out Saturday evening.

The running back’s game status was in question because of a groin injury. He will miss his second straight game due to the injury.

Punter Jamie Gillan and wide receiver Bryce Ford-Wheaton have also been ruled out for Sunday night’s contest.

Singletary signed a three-year, $16.5 million deal in the offseason after Saquon Barkley made his departure to Philadelphia.

The 27-year-old has filled the shoes of Barkley since he left New York. Prior to Singletary’s injury, he posted 56 carries for 221 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught 10 of 11 passes.

Tyrone Tracy will likely get the start against the Bengals in place of Singletary. The fifth-round pick did well against the Seattle Seahawks last week.

Tracy recorded 129 rushing yards on 18 carries in the Giants’ 29-20 triumph over Seattle.

In lieu of all the other injuries for New York, the Giants signed veteran punter Matt Haack on Saturday. The 30-year-old impressed the team in his workout on Friday, beating five other punters.

Haack boasts a career average of 44.5 yards per punt. Haack will play in his 100th career game in the NFL on Sunday.

The Arizona State alum spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Miami Dolphins from 2017-20. Haack then spent time with the Buffalo Bills, Indianapolis Colts, and Cleveland Browns. This marks Haack’s first time on a roster in the 2024 season.

The Giants will also be without star receiver Malik Nabers. The receiver suffered a concussion in Week 4. The rookie wideout made headlines this week as he was seen at a Travis Scott concert Wednesday night.

His attendance at MetLife Stadium led several Giants fans to lash out against the rookie.

Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Nabers attending the concert wasn’t in violation of the concussion protocol, however, the perception was quite negative.

Daboll wouldn’t disclose whether Nabers had any symptoms from the concussion or why he hasn’t made any progress in the protocol.

“I’ll leave that in-house,” Daboll said via the team transcript. “But making progress. He’ll do some more than he did yesterday, similar to probably the day before. Take it day by day.”

Without Singletary and Nabers, the Giants have a slim chance of beating Joe Burrow and company in Week 6.
