Giants select ‘big moment’ QB in Field Yates’ 2025 NFL mock draft

The New York Giants are currently slated to select second overall in the 2025 NFL draft but current odds give them the best chance to land the No. 1 pick and most projections seem to support that.

In the latest 2025 NFL mock draft by Field Yates, that’s precisely where he has Big Blue picking. And with that selection, they land a “big moment” quarterback.

1. New York Giants (2-11)

Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

The Giants’ multiyear quest to find a quarterback — recall they tried to trade up in last April’s draft — should come to an end in 2025. They benched and subsequently cut Daniel Jones last month, ending his six-season era in New York. Sanders has put together an incredible final college season, leading the FBS in completion percentage (74.2%) and ranking top-three in touchdown passes (35) and passing yards (3,926). He is at his best delivering from the pocket, as he throws with natural touch and is extremely poised. Sanders has met big moment after big moment at Colorado, and that unflappability bodes well for his NFL future.

There are questions about the 2025 quarterback draft class and how it would compare to the 2024 class or even the 2026 class. There are also questions about the top QB prospect in this class. Many believe it to be Sanders, but some would argue that the title belongs to Miami’s Cam Ward.

The Giants have heavily scouted both Sanders and Ward this season, and it’s a near lock that they select a quarterback with their first pick.

With Sanders, who is more of a pocket passer, general manager Joe Schoen would need to continue building up the offensive line to ensure that his big draft investment doesn’t suffer injury similar to Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, and Tommy DeVito before him.
