Giants sign RB Lorenzo Lingard, formerly with Jaguars

The New York Giants today signed running back Lorenzo Lingard, an undrafted rookie who spent the offseason with the Jacksonville Jaguars before his release on Aug. 4.

It came after the Giants made a series of roster moves on Sunday. The team activated offensive tackle Evan Neal off physically unable to perform list; signed linebacker K.J. Cloyd; and waived defensive back Kaleb Hayes and running back Jacob Saylors.

Lingard, 6-0 and 202 pounds, played in 52 collegiate games across six seasons, including two with Miami (2018-19), three with Florida (2020-22), and one with Akron (2023). Overall, he rushed 186 times for 927 yards and seven touchdowns in his career. He also added 38 receptions for 399 yards and two touchdowns.

A native of Orange City, Fla., Lingard rushed for more than 2,500 career yards in high school. He gained 1,701 yards on 207 carries and scored 26 touchdowns as a senior en route to Gatorade Florida Player of the Year honors. Lingard also claimed the Florida State 4A Championship in 110-meter hurdles in high school.
