Giants standout rookie WR Malik Nabers leaves Thursday night loss with concussion
A historic and brilliant start to the rookie season of Malik Nabers was dimmed Thursday night when the New York Giants wide receiver suffered a concussion.
Nabers was ruled out just before the Giants’ 20-15 loss to the Dallas Cowboys went final.
Nabers, attempting to make a diving catch along the sideline with 3:21 to play, came down hard and was slow to get up. He then walked to the locker room under his own power and was quickly ruled out thereafter.
It was a bad ending to another great game for the 2024 NFL Draft’s No. 6 overall pick. Nabers had 12 receptions for 115 yards in the contest, becoming just the third rookie since the 1970 merger with double-digit catches and 100-plus yards in a prime-time game, per NFL Research.
Nabers now has 35 catches for 386 yards through his first four career games, having become the third player in the Super Bowl era to record 30 or more catches in his first four games, joining Puka Nacua (39) and Anquan Boldin (30).
Whether Nabers is able to come back and continue his remarkable start in Week 5 is now to be determined.
