Giants urged to take quarterback with ‘superstar potential’ in 2025 NFL draft | Sporting News

The New York Giants are officially entering the post-Daniel Jones era and will be on the hunt for a new quarterback next offseason.

With Tommy DeVito expected to be the starter for the remainder of the regular season, the Giants are widely expected to be in the mix for a rookie quarterback in the 2025 NFL draft.

There are likely going to be a few options the Giants will have a chance at drafting despite question marks lingering on each of the prospects’ profiles, but one NFL analyst is urging the Giants to take a quarterback with “superstar potential” next April.

“When the Giants hired Daboll away from Buffalo, the hope was that he’d transform Jones into the next Josh Allen. Things didn’t unfold that way. If Daboll remains the head coach, he should be very intrigued by Miami quarterback Cam Ward,” Matt Holder of Bleacher Report wrote.

In his scouting report for Bleacher Report, Dame Parson ranked Ward as the QB1 in the 2025 draft class while dishing out some high praise if Ward can settle down some of his turnover-worthy plays.

“Cam Ward is among the most gifted throwers in the NFL draft class. The combination of arm talent, mobility/athleticism, and accuracy is growing among NFL scouts. He is comfortable using hard counts to force the defense out of their disguises, then set the protection to pick up any indicating extra rushers from the second or third levels of the defense. He has superstar potential if he can cut down on mistakes/risky decisions,” Parson wrote in his scouting report.

Ward is certainly an electric player who has found himself in the mix to be at the top of the draft board for several teams.

In 10 games this season, Ward has completed 66.8% of his passes for 3,494 yards, 32 touchdowns and six interceptions while adding 50 carries for 182 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.
