What would New York Fashion Week be without a dinner at Caviar Kaspia at The Mark? On Thursday night, the evening before the official start of the shows, Gigi Hadid hosted an intimate dinner for friends including Helena Christensen, Taylor Hill, Daphne Groeneveld, Patrick Ta and Astrid Baarsma.
Hadid’s knitwear brand Guest in Residence was celebrating the launch of its collaboration with Caviar Kaspia, which includes two colorful cashmere sweaters featuring the restaurant’s signature teal hue and tin artwork.
“It starts to feel like the best parts of art class when we get to collaborate with other people, brands and places that have such strong memories and are so well-branded really in their own right. We get to take the best of what they’ve created and put it into knitwear,” Hadid said. “I thought that a great way to celebrate Caviar Kaspia was with that beautiful imagery. And the colors to me are the most fun part of what I do. Sitting down on the floor with all the swatches for that season and diving into the world of that is really fun, and so I wanted that to be celebrated with the teal, especially.”
Each dinner seat had guests’ very own teal Caviar Kaspia tin — but instead of caviar, inside was a pair of Guest in Residence socks. Perfect for fall.
Heading into prime Guest in Residence season — aka, sweater season — Hadid mentioned that she’s leaning into the joy of “funky layering.”
“Trying things on and seeing how things sing together or don’t; that fun game of mixing two patterns that you never thought would work,” Hadid said. “The freedom in wearing something like that is something that I’ve definitely grown into in my life, and not really caring if it works for someone else. If it sparks joy for you and makes you feel like you’re expressing yourself, then that’s the most fun thing about getting dressed to me.”
