When Fahad Malik transferred to New York Tech from Stony Brook University in fall 2023, the information technology student wasted no time getting involved on campus. Inspired by his professors’ and classmates’ warm welcome, Malik sought to pay it forward and began working as a student ambassador in the Office of Admissions.

Having grown up in Pakistan, finding his place within the New York Tech community was a big deal for Malik, who says his favorite part of being a student ambassador is helping prospective students discover their own sense of belonging on campus.
“Along with building my communication and leadership skills, I’ve been given an incredible opportunity to meet and connect with such diverse groups of people,” he says. “I’ve grown in my ability to confidently represent New York Tech, and I’ve learned so much about all of the university’s available extracurriculars.”
As he introduces potential students to all the university has to offer, including its many clubs, Malik has found a place for himself within a few organizations, including Tau Kappa Epsilon. Through the fraternity, he participates in the Greek life society’s mission to advance the personal growth of both its members and those that the group aids through community service.
Malik is also exploring his options for joining the College of Engineering and Computing Sciences’ Entrepreneurship and Technology Innovation Center (ETIC), where he hopes to contribute his technical skills to the lab’s efforts in creating innovative products for the technology and engineering fields.
“From a young age, I always found myself connected to technology. I would often try to fix broken gadgets around the house,” Malik says of his passion for his field of study. “What started as a simple interest quickly grew into a love for problem-solving.”
Coupled with his thrill for how technology powers the world around us, Malik’s enjoyment of creating solutions and increasing efficiency in the tech world has him on the precipice of a breakthrough in helping his family’s business, Panorama International, in Pakistan. Panorama International is a manufacturer and worldwide seller of dental and surgical instruments.
Malik is currently developing his skills in building software applications. After he has perfected his capabilities, the young trailblazer will establish an application that healthcare providers around the world can access and use to order instruments online from his family’s business seamlessly.
As he thinks about post-undergraduate life, Malik has no doubts about his future. After completing his bachelor’s degree, he will continue with the university’s accelerated M.S. options program in either data science or cybersecurity. He will then work to establish his own tech company that offers everything from back-end development to data server protection.
“For anyone pursuing their dreams, stay dedicated,” Malik advises. “Keep dreaming and never give up.”
