Gov. Kathy Hochul requests major disaster declaration

ALBANY, N.Y. (WCAX) – New York Governor Kathy Hochul requested a major disaster declaration from President Biden. It’s to help ongoing recovery efforts of communities impacted by severe weather caused by the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby on August 8th-10th.

If the request is granted for communities including Allegeny, Broome, Delaware, Essex, Franklin, Jefferson, Ontario, Steuben, St. Lawrence and Yates counties it would help cover the costs of debris removal, emergency protective measures and repairs to public buildings and infrastructure.
