Hermès Chooses New York City to Stage First U.S. Fashion Show

Hermès chose New York City as its location to present what it called “The Second Chapter” of its Fall-Winter 2024 collection, first shown in Paris in March. Nadège Vanhée, the brand’s creative director, has always expressed a desire to show in the Big Apple, having herself lived in NYC during her years as a designer at The Row.

The fashion show was staged at Pier 36 during the evening of Thursday, June 6, where the flashing of a dozen decorative traffic lights punctuated the runway walks of such models as Anok Yai, Irina Shayk and Paloma Elesser to the notes of “Luck of Lucien” by A Tribe Called Quest.

In this sequel to the show in Paris, the familiar lines of the riding wardrobe were showcased, redesigned in a sporty key with urban accents. The Rocabar horse blanket takes on architectural silhouettes in vibrant ochre hues. The competition jacket has been reinvented in the name of softness, with leather straps blending beautifully with the knit. Overall, the useful joins the delightful in an urban and feminine reinterpretation.

Among the celebrities checking out the eclectic, plural and optimistic fashion presentation were Usher, Jenny Slate and Lily Allen. Other highlights of the collection, which was accessorized with rigid bangles and bracelets, are down jackets and trench coats, black leather pants and jackets in mustard yellow.
