H&M Drops Collection Celebrating Basquiat’s Art and It’s Already Selling Out — Here’s What’s Still Available to Shop

H&M’s latest collaboration is the perfect marriage of fashion, art and culture. The retailer teamed with New York-based fashion designers Ev Bravado and Téla D’Amore along with Basquiat’s estate on a collection of tops, bottoms, dresses, outerwear and accessories that merge the artist’s works with the N.Y. designers’ signature styles and craftsmanship. The 30-piece capsule serves as an exploration of Jean-Michel Basquiat’s legacy and his deep impact on young Black creatives.

The collection dropped on hm.com and in select stores on August 1, and is already beginning to sell out just a few hours in.

Known for their garment distressing and upcycled denim, Ev Bravado and Téla D’Amore founded their New York-based fashion house in 2016. They recently were named semi-finalists for the 2024 LVMH Prize and were finalists for the 2023 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. The duo have also designed and consulted for the biggest labels in fashion, including Nike, Puma, Off-White, New Balance and Levi’s.

“For us, Basquiat has always been an influential and larger than life figure,” say designers Ev Bravado and Téla D’Amore. “To be able to comb through his archives and select rarely referenced artworks is a blessing.”

The Basquiat estate, run by Lisane Basquiat and Jeanine Heriveaux, sisters of Jean-Michel Basquiat add, “Ev and Téla have quickly become some of the most exciting voices in fashion, and we knew that they would honour Jean-Michel’s vision while adding their own distinct style to his work.”
