Hochul awards M to expand broadband in New York | Fingerlakes1.com

Governor Kathy Hochul has announced over $70 million in grants through ConnectALL’s Municipal Infrastructure Grant Program, aiming to connect more than 25,000 homes and businesses to high-speed internet across New York.

This initiative, part of a $228 million federal investment, will fund the construction of over 800 miles of public broadband infrastructure in the Central New York, Southern Tier, Finger Lakes, and North Country regions. The projects will offer affordable, symmetric service options below local average prices.

“These awards are crucial to closing New York’s digital divide,” said Hochul, highlighting the support from the Biden administration and state congressional delegation. The new infrastructure will be publicly owned, with Internet Service Providers delivering affordable, high-quality service to underserved areas.
