The shopper bought a knife at the store before attacking himself, local police chief Scott Peters said.

Medics dashed to the store and tried to give the man life-saving measures.

Surveillance footage reportedly captured the incident, per the NBC affiliate WHEC.

The man, who hasn’t been named, was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Cops have said there is no threat to public safety.

Police have not revealed any further information as investigations remain ongoing.

“Our thoughts are with all those impacted by this incident,” cops said.

Police did not reveal any further details about the incident.

The U.S. Sun has approached The Home Depot and the Irondequoit Police Department for comment.

A Home Depot spokesperson refused to comment.

Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that over 49,000 people died by suicide in 2022 and the number rose to more than 50,000 in 2023.

The figure is the highest ever recorded.

Officials at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention revealed they are working to reduce the suicide rate by 20% by 2025.

The stabbing comes just months after two people were injured as they tried to stop a shoplifter at a Home Depot store in Victorville, California.

Cops said one of the two injured victims was stabbed, while the other was not, as reported by the Victor Valley News Group.

In April last year, Blake Mohs tried to stop a suspected shoplifter before he was shot at a store in Pleasanton, located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Mohs, a loss prevention worker, was unarmed when he was targeted, according to cops.
