How many Game 7s have Knicks played? What is their record?
The New York Knicks will hope to maintain the pattern of the home team winning every game in the series when they host the Indiana Pacers in Game 7 Sunday afternoon. The Knicks are looking to get back to the conference finals for the first time since 2000, where they actually lost to the Pacers. Here’s a look at how New York has fared in Game 7s.
The Knicks haven’t played a Game 7 in the playoffs since 2000, so none of the players currently on the roster have much experience with the scenario. However, Jalen Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo and Josh Hart have played in the Final Four, which carries similar pressure.
New York is 7-8 as a franchise in Game 7s, with the most famous win being Willis Reed’s return to Game 7 in the 1970 NBA Finals. The most heartbreaking Game 7 loss also came in the Finals, when the 1994 Knicks fell to Hakeem Olajuwon’s Rockets. New York and Indiana have played two Game 7s against each other, going 1-1. Both those games took place at Madison Square Garden.
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Knicks are 3-point favorites for Sunday afternoon’s Game 7.
