How to watch Detroit Lions vs. New York Giants preseason Week 1 game | Sporting News

The Detroit Lions and New York Giants will meet for their first preseason game on Thursday night in a contest that has a little more juice than normal.

Not only is this the first game action of the 2024 offseason for both teams, it also comes on the heels of the Lions and Giants holding their own fight club over two joint practices on Monday and Tuesday that saw several brawls and countless punches thrown.

As a result of those fights, both teams were fined $200,000 by the league on Wednesday. We’ll see if the beef carries over into Thursday night.

As far as starters playing goes, it remains unclear what the Giants are going to do. Head coach Brian Daboll did not reveal his plans for preseason Week 1.

Meanwhile, head coach Dan Campbell said the Lions won’t play quarterback Jared Goff. He added that Detroit’s key players are unlikely to see the field much, if at all, in the exhibition opener.

“Some of the guys we know we’re going to count on during the season, I don’t see them necessarily playing, and if they do, not very many reps,” Campbell said. “But our young guys are going to get a lot of these (reps), and developmental guys are going to get a ton of these reps.”

“I don’t see Goff playing in this one,” he added.

This game won’t be nationally televised, but don’t fret, there is still an option for those who are out of market. Check out the viewing information for the preseason Week 1 game between the Giants and Lions below.
