The Jackrabbits have been nearly untouchable since the start of November.
They’ve allowed 32 points in the month. That’s four games of 10 points allowed at most. South Dakota State is rolling this momentum into the FCS playoffs with a first-round bye. The No. 3 seed will play No. 14 Montana in the second round.
The Jackrabbits’ defense is stout. They allow 12.42 points per game while averaging 36.58 themselves. This matchup will be interesting with the high-scoring Montana squad. The Grizzlies average 34.54 points per game.
Montana’s defense isn’t as good, however. It allowed 25.15 points per game, which will open the doors for South Dakota State’s offense.
Mark Gronowski will be a player to watch on the Jackrabbits’ side. The quarterback has 2,192 passing yards and 17 touchdowns on the season with just six interceptions. His connection with wideout Griffin Wilde will be key as well. Wilde is by far Gronowski’s favorite target, racking up 907 yards and eight touchdowns on 57 receptions.
