The TGL, the new indoor golf league founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, kicks off with its debut match on Tuesday night, January 7th. Here’s everything you need to know to watch the first TGL match, including full TGL TV coverage, streaming info, teams and more.
Previewing TGL’s first match
After years of planning, the new TGL league is finally set to kick off Tuesday night at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, a facility specially designed for the TGL.
While the league features six teams in all, only two teams will face off in the inaugural match: the New York Golf Club and the Bay Golf Club.
But only three of the four players on each team will compete on Tuesday. Tiger Woods, the captain of the Bay Golf Club, will sit the first match out, while his BGC teammates Wyndham Clark, Shane Lowry and Ludvig Aberg will represent the team at the SoFi center. Rickie Fowler, Xander Schauffele and Matt Fitzpatrick will represent the New York Golf Club.
The format will see the teams compete on a nine-hole simulator course in triples, and then in one-hole singles matches. While the simulator will be used for most shots, short game shots will happen live within the stadium.
ESPN will provide exclusive TV coverage of the inaugural TGL match beginning at 9 p.m. ET on Tuesday, while ESPN+ will provide streaming coverage online.
