The last time Nebraska played a bowl game, Mike Riley was still the program’s head coach, Matt Rhule had just finished his final season at Temple, Rihanna’s “Work” was atop the music charts, and Barack Obama was still the sitting President of the United States.
Yes, it’s been a long, long wait, but now the Huskers enter as the favorites to win their first bowl game in eight years — a sign that Rhule finally has the program trending in the right direction.
Nebraska players and coaches have also taken advantage of being sent to the cultural center of the world for this year’s bowl game, enjoying the holiday festivities around New York City before lacing up the cleats Saturday.
