IND vs IRE Highlights, T20 World Cup: Rohit, Pant Make Short Work Of Ireland’s Paltry 97-Run Target To Help India Win by 8 Wickets

IND vs IRE T20 World Cup, India vs Ireland Highlights, Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York: Rohit Sharma (52) brought up his fifty in style before retiring out as Rishabh Pant (36) and Shivam Dube finished the formalities to help India win by 8 wickets in their opening encounter of the T20 World Cup 2024 against Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York. This was after Virat Kohli was dismissed early but Rohit and Pant ensured that there are no further hiccups in the paltry chase of 97. Suryakumar Yadav (2) didn’t trouble the scorers much as he took the long walk back but by then the match was already done and dusted. Pant remained unbeaten as India reached the target with 46 balls to spare. Earlier, Hardik Pandya was the pick of the bowlers for India as he returned with figures of 3 for 27 while Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh picked up a couple of wickets each to dismiss Ireland for a paltry score of 96 in 16 overs. Mohammed Siraj and Axar Patel were also among the wickets as Ireland struggled to get going after Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field. Gareth Delany (26 off 14) top-scored for Ireland on a pitch that became increasingly difficult for the batters.
