India-Bangladesh warm-up clash set to be first ever game in New York | ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, 2024
The ICC have also confirmed that the India-Bangladesh warm-up clash will be opened to the general public
History is all set to be made at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York as India and Bangladesh will lock horns with each other in the first ever game at the venue in a warm-up clash ahead of the mega event. The encounter will be played on June 1, the same day as the inaugural game of the T20WC between United States and Canada at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. While the India-Bangladesh contest will be played in the morning (10:30 AM local time), the USA-Canada clash will be played in the evening (7:30 PM local time).
The ICC have confirmed that the India-Bangladesh clash will be opened to the general public. It’s essentially a trial run ahead of the first WC game at the venue on June 3rd, between Sri Lanka and South Africa.
“We’re pleased to be able to open this warm-up match to the public, and especially glad to be able to provide another opportunity for local residents to see first-hand what’s happening in their back yard,” said T20 USA CEO Brett Jones.
“Importantly, tickets and/or hospitality remain available for every match at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium and we’d encourage fans to get them while they can to ensure we have a full venue while hosting these incredible athletes from all over the world.”
Earlier, the ICC announced the official list of warm-up match fixtures for the entire ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The warm-up games will begin from May 27 and will be played till June 1. The clash between India and Bangladesh on June 1 will be the final warm-up game before the commencement of the mega event.
The venues to host the 16 warm up matches are the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium, Grand Prairie, Texas; Broward County Stadium, Broward County, Florida and Queen’s Park Oval and Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad and Tobago.
