‘India is now a land of opportunities’: PM Modi in New York – World News
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his US visit, delivered a powerful address to a large gathering of the Indian diaspora at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island. This event came after the first day of his visit, which included attending the Quad Leaders Summit. The Prime Minister’s speech highlighted India’s rapid strides in various sectors, particularly in women’s welfare, entrepreneurship, and technological advancements.
Modi emphasized his government’s commitment to women-led development, noting that in the last decade, 10 crore women have joined micro-entrepreneurship schemes. He proudly shared that homes registered in women’s names are now common across India, underlining the government’s efforts to empower women financially and socially.
“In agriculture, we are leveraging technology, using drones for farming,” said Modi. “What’s remarkable is that rural women in India are at the forefront of this effort. We are training thousands of women to become drone pilots, driving a technological revolution from the ground up.”
The Prime Minister also spoke on India’s transformation into a land of opportunities, citing significant achievements across sectors over the past ten years. “India doesn’t wait for opportunities anymore; it creates opportunities,” Modi remarked, while celebrating recent successes, including the Indian men’s and women’s teams winning gold medals at the Chess Olympiad.
Reflecting on his journey as India’s first Prime Minister born after Independence, Modi expressed his commitment to good governance and prosperity. “From the very first day, my heart and mission have been clear. I couldn’t give my life for ‘Swaraj,’ but I decided I would dedicate my life to ‘Suraaj’ (good governance) and ‘Samruddh Bharat’ (prosperous India).”
The address served as a precursor to his anticipated participation at the UN’s ‘Summit of the Future’ on September 23, where Modi is expected to discuss global challenges and India’s role on the international stage. Following the summit, he will return to India.
