Rain threat looms large on the blockbuster India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup game at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on June 9. As per the latest weather forecast for June 9, there are chances of rain throughout the day on Sunday. AccuWeather hourly weather report for Sunday predicts a 51 percent chance of rain at 11:00 AM, half an hour after the start of the match. The precipitation chances stay between 45-50 percent till 4:00 PM after which it comes down to 30 percent.
It will be a day game so extra time can be allotted to the match, however, it is very unlikely that the players or umpires will wait till the evening for the rain to ease out. It won’t be false if we say that the chances of the match getting washed out are high if the forecast comes true. However, there are still a couple of days before the game and the forecast can certainly improve.
India will be expected to win both the remaining games against Canada and the USA and qualify, leaving just one slot available for the second qualifier from the Group. The USA already have four points and if they beat Ireland, they will move to six points and qualify for the Super 8s. A group stage exit will be embarrassing for Pakistan.
