ITA Airways commences new Rome-Chicago service
ITA Airways has launched a new direct service from Rome Fiumicino to Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
Operated by Airbus A330neo aircraft, flights on the route will initially run six times per week, before increasing to daily from June.
The new service marks the carrier’s seventh US route, following direct flights from Rome to New York, Boston, Washington, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco.
ITA Airways chief commercial officer Emiliana Limosani said the new Chicago service is “crucial” for the airline and will allow for onward connections throughout the US that combine leisure and business traffic flows.
The Italian carrier is rapidly expanding its intercontinental network. Along with increased flight frequencies to the UK this summer, ITA will also commence flights from Rome to Toronto on 10 May, followed by new direct services to Accra, Ghana and Kuwait City in June. Non-stop connections to Dakar, Senegal will commence in July, as well as flights to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in August.
The airline this week also announced the continued rollout of its Comfort Economy seats across its long-haul fleet of A330-900 and A350-900 aircraft. The premium economy product includes priority boarding, reserved overhead luggage space and increased legroom and is currently available on routes to Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires and Tel Aviv.
