Jalin Hyatt makes catch of the day at OTAs; Deonte Banks grabs INT

Cornerback Cor’Dale Flott showed good coverage on a deep ball during 7-on-7 and forced an incompletion. Coach Brian Daboll and the Giants have “a lot of confidence” in Flott playing opposite Banks on the outside.

“It gives me confidence too that the coaches have confidence in me, that the team has confidence in me,” Flott said last week. “Like I said, just continue to be the best version of myself.”

The defense racked up the pass deflections in the final practice of the week. Jalen Mills and Jason Pinnock got their hands on multiple attempts. Tyler Nubin prevented a touchdown with a breakup in the end zone. Fellow rookie Dru Phillips also broke up a play.

And then there were the would-be sacks. Outside linebacker Brian Burns would have had at least two quarterback takedowns in a live setting. Thibodeaux found his way into the backfield on multiple occasions, while Boogie Basham and Azeez Ojulari also would have had sacks.

Dexter Lawrence batted down two passes at the line of scrimmage. D.J. Davidson also had one of his own.

Yesterday, Lawrence was asked by a reporter about the title of best defensive tackle in the NFL being up for grabs following Aaron Donald’s retirement. Could it be him? “It could be,” the two-time Pro Bowler responded. “I’ve just got to keep working, working on my weaknesses and getting better with my strengths. It took me by surprise honestly. Look, 10 years is a long time, but you know you expect more things like that, but he left the game on top. A lot of respect to him to what he brought. There probably won’t be another one of him. A lot of respect.”
