Jets and Giants fans deserve better than an empty January — but not everyone is missing out

The ending was revealed long ago. In a little more than a week, it will become official.

A Jets season that began with Aaron Rodgers seen as a Super Bowl savior will be remembered as an all-time disappointment. A Giants season that started with Daniel Jones under center will end with him reaching the playoffs on a different team.

The Jets (4-11) will extend the longest drought in major North American pro sports leagues to 14 seasons. The Giants (2-13) could finish with their worst record in 50 years.

When the playoffs begin in two weeks, the New York metropolitan area will be without a playoff representative for the seventh time in eight seasons. Giants and Jets fans deserve so much better.
