Jets Trade for Raiders All-Pro WR Davante Adams
The Jets have acquired WR Davante Adams from the Raiders in exchange for a 2025 conditional third-round pick.
Adams (6-1, 215), a three-time first-team All-Pro and a six-time Pro Bowler, has 18 receptions, 208 yards and 1 touchdown in three games for Las Vegas this season. The former Green Bay Packer, a Fresno State product who was selected in the second round (No. 53 overall) in the 2014 NFL Draft, played with Jets QB Aaron Rodgers from 2014-’21.
In eight seasons together, Rodgers and Adams combined for 669 receptions, 8,121 yards and 73 touchdowns. Adams’ 18 touchdowns and 98.1 yards per game in the 2020 season each led the NFL as Rodgers won his MVP. Rodgers claimed another MVP in 2021 as Adams established career highs with 123 receptions and 1.553 receiving yards while registering 11 TDs.
“I don’t know how much I can say about it, there’s tampering, but I still have a close friendship with him,” Rodgers told reporters the Friday before the Jets-Vikings contest in Week 5. “We spend time in the offseason together, he’s a great guy and a great player, and the rest of that is out of my hands.”
From Adams’ first Pro Bowl nod in 2017 to his last season with the Packers in ’21, he led the NFL with 6,195 receiving yards and 57 touchdowns. He ranked No. 2 with 731 targets and 506 receptions.
Acquired by the Raiders from the Packers on March 17, 2022, Adams had 100 catches for 1,516 yards receiving (15.2) and 14 TDs in his first season for the Silver and Black. Then in 2002, Adams upped his reception total to 103 for 1,144 yards (11.1 yds./rec) with 8 TDs.
Adams joins a talented Jets receiving corps that headlined by Garrett Wilson and includes Allen Lazard, another Packers teammate from 2018-21, and Mike Williams.
