Jets vs. Texans live updates: NFL scores, game stats, news, highlights, where to watch ‘TNF’
The first half of the Week 9 edition of “Thursday Night Football” was much more of a trick than a treat on Halloween night with the Houston Texans (6-2) leading the New York Jets (2-6) 7-0 at the half.
Both squads had touchdowns taken off the board in the first two quarters, albeit, in very different situations. It appeared as though Jets third-round rookie wide receiver Malachi Corley had an easy, walk-in 19-yard rushing touchdown on an end around on the first play of the second quarter, but he evoked memories of DeSean Jackson by letting go of the football before crossing the plane. His score was overturned and ruled a touchback after the football rolled out of the back of the end zone. Houston was initially given a 31-yard fumble return touchdown by linebacker Neville Hewitt, but a fumble by Jets tight end Tyler Conklin was correctly ruled an incomplete pass as he never had full possession and didn’t make a “football move” with the ball.
The Texans became the first team to actually get on the scoreboard after running back Joe Mixon ground New York’s defense to a pulp in the first half with the Jets missing inside linebacker C.J. Mosley. He totaled 91 rushing yards on 17 carries, including a three-yard rushing touchdown that capped a 14-play, 98-yard drive with 3:21 remaining in the first half.
Will either side snap out of their rut to provide any offensive fireworks? Stay tuned to our live blog below to find out.
